The AC8L ABS V2 Internal ATU / Battery / Speaker System is an all-in-one internal expansion package for the QRP Labs QMX+ that adds automatic antenna tuning, internal battery capability, and integrated speaker functionality in a compact portable format.
Originally designed by Sardar AC8L, the ABS V2 project combines multiple field-operating accessories into a single integrated solution for portable QRP operators.

All SMD and through-hole components are installed, and the PIC controller is pre-programmed with current firmware.

This tuner is based on the ATU-100 architecture and shares many of the operational characteristics and limitations associated with that design.
Due to tuning performance limitations at the upper end of the HF spectrum and on VHF frequencies, it is recommended that the ATU be bypassed when operating on the 10 Meter and 6 Meter bands.
Performance characteristics and firmware improvements continue to evolve through ongoing community testing and experimentation.
Builders and operators are encouraged to review available documentation and community discussions prior to installation and operation.
The ABS V2 is designed to utilize an external SMA RF jumper between the QMX+ and the ATU assembly.
Advanced users may choose to internally reroute the RF signal path and eliminate the external jumper; however, components required for those modifications are not included.
As with many open-source amateur radio projects, some experimentation may be required depending on antenna type, operating band, station configuration, and operating environment.
